UPDATE!! [07-25-08] IMPORTANT!!:
Everyone that got the 1600-1699 errors or the unable to create .ipsw error, redownload the links, (updated to a new version) and re-follow my guide and it WILL WORK!
(ALSO UPDATE)ERROR FIXES:
=1600-1699 error, install the updated link in description
=6 error, you did not put your iPod/iPhone in DFU mode well.
DFU= Completely Black Screen (good)
Restore Mode= “Connect to iTunes” picture (bad)

FOR ALL OF YOU THAT ARE STILL GETTING AN ERROR, TRY THIS:
alright, uhh try this:
After making the custom firmware, then click “iPwner” and select the firmware, it will then say in the left hand box “Deleting iTunes”(or something similar) and then try shift clicking and restoring.

What WinPWN does is Jailbreak your iPod/iPhone and I believe it also unlocks the iPhone 3G! (but i am not sure about unlocking, so don’t take my word for it)
