If update my unlocked iPhone will I still be able to get to the home screen?

I have an iPhone 4gb 1.1.4 I want to update it I have no sim card at all if I update will I have to unlock it again to be able to get the homescreen or to use things like safari

if you upgrade you’ll have to re-jailbreak it. Then everything should work again
