In step 3, when you say to change the name back to .m4a, which file are u talking about? i can get about 2 ringtones on, but after that, one of the ringtones just keeps showing up in place of new ones I try to put on my iphone.

    THIS WORKS, BUT IS …
THIS WORKS, BUT IS MISSING SOME IMPORTANT INFO:
    1. The song must be under 30 seconds (right click on song, options tab, change end time to 00:00:30). Do this before converting to AAC.
    2. You must drag and drop the clip into the ringtones section in itunes, or Add File to Library.

    3. Once the file is in the ringtones list, change the name BACK to .m4a or else it will not show up once you are in your phone.

Hope this helps people who were having trouble. THANKS MATT!

  18. wheeltrain says:

    This will NOT work. …
This will NOT work. The reason being the song your trying to make a ringtone is still well over 30 seconds. Any iphone automatically does NOT recognize ring tones over 30 seconds.

If you go to “get info” on the song, then “options” you’ll see you can set the length of the song. Set it to 30 seconds or less (doesnt matter what section of the song). THEN convert it to an AAC file and continue with the instructions and it WILL work. Goodluck
