you dont need 2g …
you dont need 2g cause there isnt a 2g jailbreak just do it on the 1st gen it will work but make sure you get 2.1 firmware on it

well what you have …
well what you have to do is find a video that will teach you how to delete the mobile installation file (you have to be jailbroken)then you must have 2.1 firmware then when you have completed this you should be able to just drag and drop into itunes then sync

HEY HEADS UP EVERYONE. THE REPLACING INSTALLTION PART MIGHT BRICK YOUR IPOD SO MAKE A COPy SO YOU CAN FIX IT JUST IN CASE. I believe its the firmware versions. So just make a copy of your mobile Installtion JUST INCASE.
