In order to get the iphone, does that mean that I have to stay with AT&T for 2 more years (making it 4 years) in order to get the iphone 3g? Do I have to terminate my current contract? How much will it cost?

If you currently have the original iPhone, it will be a breeze. Your old contract will disappear regardless of how far into it you are, a new one will start and you’ll pay the fully subsidized price ($200 or $300 for 8GB or 16GB, respectively).

However, if you have another phone and you just recently started your 2 year contract, AT&T will not subsidize your iPhone 3G purchase, so you’ll pay $200 more (making it $400 or $500).

I believe your contract will just start over in either situation.
