No way you can use iPhone with Verizon. iPhone is a GSM phone (uses a SIM) while Verizon is CDMA (doesn't use a SIM), they're incompatible. You can use with AT&T and T-Mobile only in US.

All over the net when I search for the Iphone 3G , a lot of them say, Iphone 3G UNLOCKED. What does this mean? Is it good? Is it legal?

it just means that the iphone will mork with a SIM card from any phone company ,were as a locked iPhone would only work with a sim card from the provider it was bought with .

If you mean for other carriers that it isn't necessary to play songs nor you could unlock it for Alltel. Different cellular network type.

When you update an unlocked iPhone you would have to unlock it again. I don't recommend ZiPhone though as nowadays the preferred software is QuickPwn. You should make note that certain software only works with certain firmwares. QuickPwn is the one that works with the latest 2.2 firmware.

Currently, NO. However, Developers are getting close to being able to do this, but they say you should not update the iPhone’s firmware through iTunes. So i suggest you wait until they have successfully unlocked the iPhone 3G to make things simpler. The software would be called “quickpwn” or “pwnage tool” depending on if your on a pc or mac.

well if you ask me, I don't think there ever will be one. It seems like they're taking their sweet ass time coming up with the unlock software. I dont mean to sound ungrateful for all the work they've put in, but seriously. It's been MONTHS and not a peep.

I was google-ing last night and found some sort of solution for the time being. It's a new sim card thing that unlocks the V2.2 even with the new baseband. I think I might get it as my iPhone is un-usable (phoning wise) at the mo. And I'm not prepared to wait another 8months for an unlock that may or may not happen.
