Yea my itunes wants me to download and install something 2.1. My C disk is nearly full so i want to download the update to my D disk. how can i change where it will download/save to?

You can simply use the following link to download the firmware manually and save it to a location of your choice, but when you want to update your iphone to 2.1 click SHIFT + Restore and browse to where you saved the file.

Ok….I have a first gen iphone and have been with att for almost a year and have done all the updates, syncing etc.. I am thinking about jailbreaking it and installing 3 party apps. Will I have to reactivate it? Can I safely sync with itunes afterwards? I’m new to this whole process and dont want to ruin the phone or have to reactivate and run into all sorts of trouble. Thx!

Hi, I'm considering buying an iPhone 3g. I've never owned an iPhone before, but I've heard a lot about it choking your wallet with hidden fees. Can someone tell me all the fees associated with owning an iPhone on a family plan with texting on AT&T? I'll provide additional details if necessary.

the iphone costs $199 for 8gb and $299 for 16bg. i recommend the 16g version, the extra $100 is worth it considering how much extra memory you get for applications, music, pictures, etc., which take up quite a bit of memory. on top of that, a $30 data charge per month is required with the phone (which includes unlimited internet and email). if you are interested in a business data plan (which includes the same as the previous plan, except with enterprise features, allowing for inter-office contact lists and other networking features), it will cost you $45 per month. texting does not come with the data plan, and costs $20 a month for unlimited and $30 a month for unlimited family texting. there are other options available with fewer texting, but i don't advise it- i easily do 1000+ texts a month. otherwise, there is an $18 upgrade fee to the iphone (regardless of your previous phone).

those are all of the charges for the iphone. just a word of advice, go into the at&t store and place an order for it- shipments are usually unreliable and sometimes you might wait in line and come out with nothing. i ordered mine a few days ago, black 16gb and i can't wait for it to come in. unfortunately though, they said shipping should be 2-4 weeks, and it has to be picked up and activated at the store. good luck.

once the iphone 2 starts selling in the middle of june, how long do you think it will be until someone finds out how to unlock it and put the program on the net?

Probably not long… people are paid to basically buy the iPhone the day it comes out then take it apart. So I'm assuming about 2-3 weeks. Your best bet though, if you're not already a Cingular customer, is to become one and just buy the iPhone. It will be announced on Monday (the 9th) and rumor has it that Apple will let Cingular give a discount with a two-year contract.

i have no idea how to use my songs as ringtones, I'm tired on\f those stupid ringtones.
Oh and i was wondering how i can watch TV on my iphone.

1 you either buy ringtones from the iTunes store, or you jailbreak.

2 you can't watch live tv, but you can serve your own shows from your own machine. I use http://elgato.com 's eyetv.

I’m just got a new iphone 3G and I don’t really know what I can and can’t do yet… I need ideas for good apps, free apps, best websites and ways to make it look cool. I am an AT&T customer so is hacking it really safe and a good idea? Also, is there anyway to get free movies on it?
